About the position

The Human Resources Generalist at Sacramento Children's Home plays a vital role in managing various HR activities, including pre-employment processing, employee onboarding, and compliance with employment laws. This position is responsible for maintaining employee records, administering safety and workers' compensation programs, and providing guidance on HR policies. The HR Generalist also supports employee relations and participates in projects, ensuring confidentiality and adherence to legal standards.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and coordinate job offer communications and documentation to applicants and new hires.
  • Maintain the Agency's key ordering and distribution process in coordination with the Facilities Manager.
  • Create, distribute, and track new and replacement employee badges.
  • Create and maintain personnel-related files, including active, terms, and benefits files.
  • Ensure compliant I-9s are completed and properly stored/maintained.
  • Perform data entry into databases accurately and timely.
  • Administer Workers Compensation, safety, and Cal/OSHA compliance.
  • Conduct injury/illness investigations and prepare hazard assessments.
  • Create and conduct related training for management and staff.
  • Maintain thorough knowledge of SCH HR policies and systems and Employee Handbook.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resource, Business Administration, Psychology, or a related field required.
  • At least 4 years of HR experience in CA-based Human Resources departments required.
  • Knowledge of Human Resource principles, practices, and procedures required.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.

Nice-to-haves

  • PHR, SHRM-CP or similar credential desired.
  • Previous experience handling pre-employment and onboarding processes preferred.
  • Experience with HRIS/HRMS data entry/database experience preferred.
