About the position

Thank you for your interest in becoming part of the team at Legrand! The Human Resources Generalist position is responsible for carrying out a variety of Human Resources initiatives and functions. This includes, but is not limited to, employee relations, health and safety, recruitment and staffing, performance management, training, policy and procedure development, recordkeeping and compliance, and HRIS workflow administration. The HR Generalist will serve as a positive advocate for the Company's Human Resources team and related programs, policies, and procedures, while also initiating ideas for improvements. In this role, you will provide excellent customer service by assisting internal and external customers, employees, managers, vendors, and business partners with general HR-related questions and comments. You will build and maintain effective relationships with employees and managers at all levels of the organization to assist in gaining awareness of employee or business needs. Additionally, you will act as a liaison between manufacturing facilities and Corporate HR staff to ensure a continuous flow of information and communication regarding initiatives, programs, issues, and concerns. The HR Generalist will also be responsible for benefits administration, effectively managing programs such as medical, dental, life, and disability insurance, as well as 401(k) plans. You will coordinate enrollments and changes with Corporate HR functions and assist with executing the annual benefit open enrollment process. In terms of health and safety, you will understand workplace hazards and take proactive steps to prevent and report hazards or injuries, cooperating in Safety Programs and initiatives. Moreover, you will manage staffing and talent management processes, including processing new hires, terminations, and change notices, and guiding managers and employees on employment and new hire processes. You will also coach and partner with supervisors and managers to resolve employee relations issues and maintain accurate employee relations records. The role requires a proactive approach to reviewing and recommending changes in HR practices, maintaining compliance with federal and state employment regulations, and supporting the development and implementation of department goals and objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Act as a positive advocate for the Company's Human Resources team and related programs, policies, and procedures.

  • Process new hires, terminations, and change notices accurately.
  • Conduct new-employee orientations and coordinate required training.
  • Manage temporary employee placement activities and vendor relationships.
  • Support the administration of an effective recruitment program.
  • Coach and partner with supervisors and managers to resolve employee relations issues.
  • Maintain complete and accurate employee relations notes, records, and logs.
  • Conduct exit interviews and analyze feedback trends for continuous improvement.
  • Review and recommend changes in HR practices and programs.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of department goals and objectives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of progressive Human Resources generalist experience.
  • Proven knowledge and application of HR practices, principles, and applicable laws and regulations.
  • Previous experience with HRIS/Payroll system maintenance.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Excellent project management and planning skills with high attention to detail.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with employees at all levels.

Nice-to-haves

  • Professional or Senior Professional in Human Resources certification (PHR/SPHR and/or SHRM-CP/SHRM-SCP).
  • Safety team experience in a manufacturing, assembly, or distribution environment.
  • Multi-site/multi-state (international) experience preferred.
  • Bilingual (Spanish/English).
