The HR Generalist is instrumental in recruiting new employees, screening candidates, assisting with new hire orientations, creating job descriptions, scheduling interviews, and performing various administrative tasks. They are also responsible for maintaining employment records, answering employee inquiries, and ensuring that employees understand company policies. In the realm of recruitment and staffing, the HR Generalist develops and updates job descriptions, prepares recruitment materials, and posts job openings on appropriate job boards. They utilize various sourcing methods, including databases and social media, to attract candidates, screen resumes, and schedule interviews. Once candidates are selected, the HR Generalist facilitates the onboarding process to ensure new employees are fully integrated into the organization. The role also involves managing employee relations by serving as a point of contact for employee queries, resolving complex issues, and conducting thorough investigations when necessary. The HR Generalist must maintain a comprehensive understanding of legal requirements related to employee management to mitigate risks and ensure compliance with regulations. In terms of performance management, the HR Generalist assists in implementing performance management systems, monitors evaluations, and supports both employees and managers in setting performance goals. They administer various employee benefits programs, provide guidance on benefits claims, and assist in developing training programs to meet the needs of teams and individuals. Additionally, the HR Generalist is responsible for maintaining compliance with employment laws, preparing necessary reports, and assisting in the development and communication of HR policies and procedures. This position requires a proactive approach to fulfilling the mission of Sacred Path and may involve other duties as assigned.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and update job descriptions and job specifications.
  • Prepare recruitment materials and post jobs to appropriate job boards.
  • Source and recruit candidates using databases and social media.
  • Screen candidates' resumes and job applications.
  • Schedule interviews and onboard new employees.
  • Serve as a point of contact for employees' queries on HR-related topics.
  • Manage and resolve complex employee relations issues.
  • Conduct effective, thorough, and objective investigations.
  • Maintain knowledge of legal requirements related to employee management.
  • Assist in the implementation of performance management systems.
  • Monitor performance evaluations and ensure timely completion.
  • Administer employee benefits programs, including group insurance and health benefits.
  • Assist in the development of benefit orientations and training.
  • Identify training needs for teams and individuals.
  • Evaluate and monitor training programs for success.
  • Maintain compliance with employment and benefits laws and regulations.
  • Prepare and maintain necessary reports for the HR department.
  • Assist in developing and communicating HR policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 3 years of HR experience.
  • Proven experience as an HR Generalist.
  • Understanding of general human resources policies and procedures.
  • Good knowledge of employment/labor laws.
  • Aptitude in problem-solving.
  • Desire to work as a team with a results-driven approach.
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or related field required.
  • Excellent communication and people skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Additional HR Training (SHRM Certified Professional or SHRM Senior Certified Professional) preferred.
  • Experience working with the American Indian/Alaska Native community.
