About the position

The entry-level Human Resources Generalist supports the HR Business Partner for the region in establishing and meeting professional and compliant employment practices. As a company devoted to promoting an employee-focused servant leadership culture, the HR Generalist will act as a liaison between the programs and initiatives originating from the Home Office and help to support the individual needs of our operational teams throughout the assigned markets. This role is crucial in maintaining compliance with all state and federal laws, updating forms, policies, and procedures as needed in coordination with the HR team. The HR Generalist will manage all leaves of absence, including FMLA and state disability leaves, in collaboration with Operations, Home Office HR, and Payroll. Additionally, the position involves maintaining employee records in the HRIS system, processing status changes, terminations, and labor allocations, and leveraging analytics and data reporting to drive results. The HR Generalist will also respond to unemployment and employment verification notices, manage workers' compensation claims, and ensure proper communication regarding employee benefits inquiries within the region. This role requires a strong understanding of human resources policies, procedures, and programs, as well as the ability to mediate inquiries related to Collective Bargaining Agreements. The HR Generalist will review and approve candidates for background checks and MVR reporting for the region, and perform other related duties as assigned.

Responsibilities

  • Assist Human Resources Business Partner on employee relations issues, investigations, and compliance.
  • Maintain compliance with all state and federal laws in regions, updating forms, policies, and procedures as needed in coordination with the HR team.
  • Manage all leaves of absence, including FMLA and state disability leaves, in coordination with Operations, Home Office HR, and Payroll.
  • Responsible for employee maintenance in HRIS system including processing all status changes, terminations, and labor allocations.
  • Leverage analytics, data, and reporting to identify better ways to drive results.
  • Respond to unemployment and employment verification notices.
  • Act as a liaison to the Home Office related to employee benefits inquiries within the region.
  • Manage workers' compensation for the region, including reporting claims and adhering to company processes with claims reporting and back-to-work programs.
  • Responsible for all employee communications for the region.
  • Collaborate with managers to ensure pay data is completed and uploaded properly and ensure proper wage and hour compliance.
  • Understand, interpret, administer, and mediate inquiries related to human resources policies, procedures, and programs as well as executed Collective Bargaining Agreements.
  • Review and approve all candidates for background and MVR reporting for the region.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience.
  • 2-4 years of Human Resources experience with emphasis on payroll and compliance.
  • Experience in employee relations, workers' compensation, and benefits.
  • Knowledge of current federal, state, and local laws.
  • Working knowledge of HRIS and payroll systems.
  • Advanced experience with Excel.
  • Basic experience with Word, PowerPoint, and Microsoft Office Applications.
