The Human Resources Generalist will be responsible for managing the daily operations of the HR Department, which includes a variety of essential functions such as hiring and interviewing staff, administering pay, benefits, and leave, and enforcing company policies and practices. This role is crucial in ensuring that the organization adheres to employment laws and regulations while fostering a positive workplace culture. The HR Generalist will also assist in conducting timely performance evaluations and provide support in implementing personnel policies. In this position, the HR Generalist will review, track, and document compliance with both mandatory and non-mandatory training, continuing education, and work assessments. This may encompass safety training, anti-harassment training, and professional licensure and certifications. The HR Generalist will be involved in recruiting, interviewing, and facilitating the hiring of qualified job applicants for open positions, collaborating with hiring teams to understand the skills and competencies required for each opening. Additionally, the HR Generalist will perform general human resource functions, including onboarding, offboarding, recordkeeping, and benefits administration. They will conduct or acquire background checks and employee eligibility verifications, implement new hire orientation and employee recognition programs, and perform routine tasks required to administer and execute human resource programs. This includes managing compensation, benefits, leave, disciplinary matters, disputes, investigations, performance and talent management, productivity, recognition, morale, occupational health and safety, and training and development. The HR Generalist will handle employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate staff. They will attend and participate in employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations, while maintaining compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations. The role also involves maintaining knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law. Furthermore, the HR Generalist will manage employee verification requests and keep updated copies of all employee-related policies and procedures as well as employee records. The HR Generalist will also perform all duties related to compliance and reporting at the local and state level and may be assigned additional duties as needed. They will align with the mission, vision, and values of Lycée Français, provide training for faculty and staff to build awareness of the school's policies and procedures, and prepare a comprehensive, culturally-rich annual new hire orientation process. Collaboration to create an equitable and inclusive work environment is also a key aspect of this role, as well as serving as the Title IX Coordinator. In terms of reporting and legal responsibilities, the HR Generalist will assist with labor and employment compliance issues, working closely with outside legal counsel as necessary. They will maintain knowledge of trends and employment legislation to ensure the school's compliance, communicate changes in employee policies and procedures to staff, review the Staff Handbook annually, and recommend suggested edits to the senior leadership team. The HR Generalist will also assist in 401k audits and other audits as needed, as well as with quarterly and year-end reporting, including W2s, 1042s, and 1099s. They will oversee visa and immigration processes as part of their responsibilities.
