About the position

The Human Resources Generalist at Bridge Over Troubled Waters plays a crucial role in ensuring the agency maintains a high-performance workforce. Reporting to the Director of Human Resources, this position involves administering various human resources programs, including talent management, onboarding, employee relations, benefits administration, training and development, employment law compliance, and safety protocols. The Generalist will coordinate and manage the agency's talent and human resources functions, ensuring that all processes align with the organization's goals and values. A significant aspect of this role is the recruitment and onboarding of new employees. The Human Resources Generalist will work closely with the Recruiter to oversee the new hire orientation and onboarding process for both exempt and non-exempt employees. This includes managing and processing all new hire paperwork through ADP Workforce Now, ensuring a smooth transition for new staff members into the organization. In addition to recruitment, the Generalist will handle human resources and benefits administration. This includes managing the HR systems and platforms, overseeing changes in staff benefit elections, and maintaining compliance with state and federal labor laws. The Generalist will serve as the primary point of contact for employees regarding benefits-related inquiries and will ensure accurate data entry for employee changes in the HR system. Furthermore, the role involves assisting with the annual performance review process and responding to employee questions regarding HR policies and procedures. The Human Resources Generalist will also focus on employee relations, collaborating with the Director of HR to recommend policy changes and develop programs that enhance employee engagement and satisfaction. This includes managing the performance review cycle, employee recognition programs, and ensuring that the Employee Handbook is up-to-date with current employment laws. The Generalist will provide guidance and support to employees on various workplace issues and will work closely with the Director of HR to manage Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion initiatives within the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and conduct new hire orientation and onboarding process for exempt and non-exempt employees.
  • Manage and process all new hire paperwork through ADP Workforce Now.
  • Oversee information and workflow of HR systems, including staff benefit elections and performance review cycles.
  • Serve as the point of contact for employees regarding questions and concerns related to benefits plans.
  • Maintain compliance with state and federal labor laws and licensing requirements.
  • Ensure accurate data entry of employee changes in ADP Workforce Now.
  • Assist with managing the annual performance review process.
  • Respond to employee inquiries regarding HR policies and procedures.
  • Report and monitor all workers' compensation case files.
  • Coordinate programs that enhance the agency's culture, such as employee recognition programs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in human resources or related field or equivalent experience.
  • Three to five years of related experience required.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills with high attention to detail.
  • Working understanding of human resource principles and practices.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and ADP Workforce Now.
  • Excellent time management skills with the ability to meet deadlines.
