About the position

For the past 80 years, Catholic Charities of Southern Colorado (CCSoCo) has faithfully served our marginalized neighbors within the Diocese of Pueblo, a sprawling region encompassing 29 counties in the bottom third of the state, and home to one of the most stunning and diverse regions of our country. CCSoCo offers 15 evidence-based programs designed to stabilize, strengthen, and create opportunities for individuals and families. Our dynamic agency is growing, and we need assistance in taking care of our people! As an HR Generalist, you will be helping recruit, support, and retain our team. As a trusted and valuable partner, you will assist the Executive and Operations Directors with benefits administration, employee relations, training, performance management, policy implementation, recruitment/employment, orientation, onboarding, and employment law compliance. This is an onsite position and requires you to be in the office in Pueblo, CO.

Responsibilities

  • Conducts weekly meetings with respective business units.
  • Consults with leadership team providing HR guidance when appropriate.
  • Manages personnel records and maintains and updates records relating to employee data, benefit plan coverage, and employee guidelines.
  • Assists with full life cycle recruitment efforts including placement of ads, management of resumes, sourcing, scheduling interviews, interviewing, preparing offer letters and new hire paperwork.
  • Completes onboarding and offboarding for all candidates and employees.
  • Responsible for orientation for all new hires within the organization.
  • Acts as 'front-line' for employee questions related to benefits such as medical, dental, vision, life insurance, and 403-b.
  • Provides guidance to employees regarding federal, state, and local guidelines related to employment relations issues.
  • Manages content on department website to ensure stakeholders have access to the most current information and forms on all policies and procedures.
  • Screen incoming calls for urgent HR issues; respond independently to routine inquiries when possible.
  • Researches and maintains current salary range grid for all positions, including surrounding areas within the Diocese of Pueblo.
  • Acts as the Health and Wellness liaison with assigned vendors to answer questions and promote the program to employees.
  • Conduct annual employee file audits.
  • Responsible for updating and maintaining job description library.
  • Manages and resolves complex employee relations issues.
  • Conducts effective, thorough, and objective investigations.
  • Maintains in-depth knowledge of legal requirements related to the day-to-day management of employees, reducing legal risks, and ensuring regulatory compliance.
  • Partners with the diocese and legal department as needed/required.
  • Works closely with management and employees to improve work relationships, build morale, and increase productivity and retention.
  • Identifies training needs for business units and individual executive coaching needs.
  • Participates in evaluation and monitoring of training programs to ensure success.
  • Follows up to ensure training objectives are met.

  • Ability to acquire a thorough understanding of Catholic Charities, jobs, qualifications, compensation practices, and related administrative practices.
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and/or related software.
  • Working knowledge of multiple human resource disciplines, including compensation practices, organizational diagnosis, employee relations, diversity, performance management, and federal and state respective employment laws.
  • An Associates Degree or bachelor's degree in Business, Human Resources or related field and three to five years of or any similar combination of education and experience.
