About the position

The Human Resources Generalist at Hilton is responsible for a variety of HR functions that are essential to the smooth operation of the Human Resources Department. This role encompasses benefits administration, administrative duties, and conducting New Employee Orientation. The HR Generalist will also handle worker's compensation claims, unemployment claims, and employee verifications. A significant part of the job involves employment processes, including qualifying applicants, conducting reference checks, and performing background testing. The position is designed to support the Human Resource Department in its mission to foster a positive work environment and ensure compliance with employment laws and regulations. The HR Generalist will work closely with other team members to implement HR policies and procedures, and will be involved in various projects aimed at improving employee engagement and satisfaction. This is a full-time position located at the St. Louis Union Station Hotel, requiring in-person attendance during standard business hours.

Responsibilities

  • Administer employee benefits and manage related inquiries.
  • Conduct New Employee Orientation sessions for new hires.
  • Handle worker's compensation claims and unemployment claims.
  • Perform employee verifications and background checks.
  • Qualify applicants and conduct reference checks during the hiring process.
  • Support the Human Resource Department in various administrative duties.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of HR policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • 1 year of experience in hospitality or a related field (preferred).
  • Strong understanding of HR functions and employment laws.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and HR software.

Nice-to-haves
