The Human Resources Generalist is responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the Human Resources team as well as managing the administration of all HR policies, procedures, and programs. The HR Generalist will also carry out responsibilities in the following functional areas within HR: recruitment, onboarding, training & development, employee relations, and performance management. This role provides day-to-day HR support for all Human Resources clients, including recruitment, onboarding, offboarding, compensation analysis, performance management, and reporting/analytics. The HR Generalist will partner with HR leadership to support employee relations issues, ensuring fair and consistent application of policies and practices, and mentor supervisors regarding career development. Additionally, the HR Generalist will oversee the Leave of Absence (LOA) processes, manage payroll databases, assist with the new hire process, and help implement performance management systems. This position also involves developing HR policies, ensuring compliance with employment laws, and monitoring the organization's culture to promote employee satisfaction. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in HR practices, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to maintaining confidentiality and supporting a diverse workforce.

Responsibilities

  • Provide day to day HR support for all Human Resources clients, including recruitment, onboarding, offboarding, compensation analysis, performance management, and reporting/analytics.
  • Partner with HR leadership to support employee relations issues, ensuring fair and consistent application of policies and practices.
  • Mentor and provide guidance to all supervisors, related to career development.
  • Oversee LOA processes; processing transactions and ensuring LOA pay information is provided to Payroll as well as educating employees on LOA processes and procedures.
  • Liaise with various partners to manage and resolve day to day employee issues.
  • Respond to routine HR questions including, but not limited to benefits, payroll, vacation or redirect employees to appropriate contacts in a timely manner.
  • Attend & participate in training courses pertinent to Human Resources as required.
  • Assist in creation of job descriptions for open positions, and post open vacancies internally and externally.
  • Assist with creation, planning and logistics of on-site culture building activities and events.
  • Oversee and maintain the payroll database including tracking and inputting any compensation changes including salary increases, expenses, commissions, bonuses, severance, etc.
  • Assist with the monitoring of the company wage and salary structure and any variable pay system within the company including bonuses, merits, promotions and salary increases/adjustments.
  • Manage the new hire process including providing the new employee with all necessary/state specific paperwork and information regarding their first day.
  • Assist with the implementation of the performance management system that includes performance improvement plans (PIPs) and individual goals and objectives.
  • Assist with in-house employee training system, with any training needs assessment, new hire orientation, mandatory compliance training courses, new hire onboarding and employee/management development.
  • Assist with the development of Human Resources policies for the company with regard to employee relations.
  • Partner with management to communicate Human Resources policies, procedures, programs, and laws.
  • Advise managers and supervisors about the steps in the progressive disciplinary process.
  • Partner with HR Director to comply with all existing governmental and labor legal and government reporting requirements including any related to the Equal Employment opportunity (EEO), the Americans With Disabilities Act (ADA), the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), Employee Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA), the Department of Labor, worker compensation, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), and so forth.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in HR, Business, Communications or related field required.
  • Minimum of 3 years prior human resources experience, preferably in a generalist role.
  • PHR or SHRM-CP certificate preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to confidentially maintain employee and company information.
  • General knowledge of employment laws and practices.
  • Excellent computer skills in a Microsoft Windows environment, including Excel and demonstrated skills in database management and record keeping.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and coaching skills.
  • Evidence of the practice of a high level of confidentiality.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Customer Service focus.
