About the position

National Services Group (NSG) is seeking a Human Resources Generalist to join our rapidly growing team. As an HR Generalist, you will play a crucial role in both tactical and strategic aspects of human resources, focusing on recruiting and onboarding, employee relations, payroll and benefits, and compliance. This position is integral to the development, implementation, and administration of effective human resource policies and systems that align with our organizational objectives. You will be a key participant in shaping short and long-term HR goals that support our business strategy. In the area of recruiting and onboarding, you will be responsible for the full-cycle recruitment process, which includes sourcing, attracting, and hiring talent. You will develop interview protocols and candidate rating systems, oversee the talent acquisition process, and provide regular updates to hiring managers and the Director of Human Resources. Additionally, you will coordinate and conduct new employee orientations to ensure a smooth onboarding experience. Your role will also encompass compensation and benefits management, where you will implement and administer benefits programs, provide input on benefit offerings, and evaluate existing programs for competitiveness. Compliance is another critical aspect of your responsibilities, as you will ensure adherence to all company and government regulatory standards, manage employee leave programs, and maintain the HRIS system. In terms of employee relations, you will support the performance management process, foster a positive work environment, and assist in conflict resolution. You will conduct investigations, analyze exit interview data, and make recommendations for improvements. Your ability to communicate effectively and build professional relationships will be essential in balancing the role of company representative and employee advocate. Responsibilities

  • Responsible for full-cycle recruitment: sourcing, attracting, and hiring talent.
  • Develop interview screening protocols and questions as well as candidate rating systems.
  • Oversee the talent acquisition process, providing weekly updates to hiring managers and Director of Human Resources.
  • Coordinate and conduct new employee orientations.
  • Implement and administer benefits programs including open enrollment and life events.
  • Provide input into benefit offerings and design including cost-sharing structure.
  • Develop benefits communications and counsel employees on benefit-related issues.
  • Ensure compliance with all company and government regulatory standards in HR governance.
  • Manage all paperwork and administrative duties for employees on FMLA, CFRA, and PDL.
  • Maintain the HRIS system, including data management and troubleshooting issues.
  • Provide advice, interpretation, and counsel to employees and managers on HR policy, programs, and practices.
  • Support the performance management process, including performance evaluations and feedback sessions.
  • Maintain a positive environment through effective employee communication and fair treatment of employees.
  • Assist employees and managers with conflict resolution and conduct investigations.
  • Conduct exit interviews, analyze data to identify trends, and make recommendations.

Requirements

  • High school diploma/GED and at least 7 years of progressive HR experience, or an Associate's degree and at least 5 years of HR experience, or a Bachelor's degree and at least 3 years of HR experience.
  • At least 2 years of experience working with an HRIS.
  • Knowledge of federal and state laws related to employment and labor (FLSA, EEO, FMLA, ADA, etc.).
  • Strong verbal, written, and consultative communication skills.
  • Ability to develop professional relationships and credibility within the organization.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Teams, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Intermediate-Advanced proficiency in Excel (formulas, Vlookup, data management, formatting).
  • Experience administering benefit programs.
  • Capacity to apply discretion and maintain confidentiality when handling sensitive information.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in an HR or business-related field.
  • More than 7 years of HR experience.
  • Experience working in the construction industry.
  • SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, HRCI SPHR or PHR certification.
  • Prior experience with prevailing wage.
  • Prior experience processing payroll.
  • Prior experience with Paychex or ADP.
