About the position

The Human Resources Generalist at Navy Exchange Services (NEX) is responsible for providing comprehensive HR support to a large local NEX Activity complex. This role involves maintaining official HR records, assisting in recruitment and staffing, managing employee relations, and overseeing training and development initiatives. The position requires collaboration with the District Human Resources Manager and involves various HR projects and assignments to enhance workforce diversity and operational efficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the maintenance of official Human Resources records and generate reports as required.
  • Maintain current and accurate electronic HR records and ensure data privacy.
  • Perform HR projects related to communication, facilitation, planning, and development of employment competencies.
  • Assist in developing and implementing a recruitment plan to meet local and district needs.
  • Ensure efficient utilization of personnel and recommend selection, retention, and promotion of associates.
  • Participate in Compensation Program Administration and maintain salary schedules.
  • Coordinate onsite training sessions for managers regarding HR policies and procedures.
  • Provide support and guidance to managers on employee relations issues.
  • Assist with counseling associates and resolving problems informally.
  • Research and prepare initial disciplinary actions and resolutions for grievances.
  • Oversee new hire orientation training and ensure compliance with mandatory training requirements.
  • Coordinate award nominations and maintain a library of educational resources.
  • Conduct training needs analysis and assist in defining training requirements.
  • Plan and schedule daily work assignments for the HR office and supervise assigned associates.

Requirements

  • 3 years of responsible experience in non-routine work with a good understanding of administrative systems and methods.
  • Ability to analyze problems and apply sound judgment in assessing solutions.
  • Effective communication skills, both orally and in writing.
  • 1 year of responsible experience in Human Resources work with knowledge of HR rules and regulations.
