The Human Resources Generalist serves as a key support role within the Human Resources department, primarily responsible for providing comprehensive HR support to either the headquarters or a large local NEX Activity complex. This position is crucial in ensuring that all HR functions are executed efficiently and effectively, with work closely coordinated and reviewed by the District Human Resources Manager, Assistant District Human Resources Manager, and/or District Human Resources Generalist. The role encompasses a variety of responsibilities, including the maintenance of official HR records, data compilation, and report generation, ensuring that all electronic HR records are current and accurate while maintaining the privacy of sensitive information. In addition to record-keeping, the Human Resources Generalist is tasked with performing HR projects and assignments that focus on communication facilitation, planning, and the development of employment competencies. A significant aspect of this role involves assisting the District Human Resources Manager in maintaining adequate staffing levels by developing and implementing a recruitment plan that aligns with local and district recruitment needs, as well as workforce diversity requirements. The Generalist will also ensure the efficient utilization of personnel, making recommendations regarding the selection, retention, reassignment, and promotion of associates. The position includes participation in Compensation Program Administration, which involves engaging in periodic wage surveys and maintaining salary and wage schedules. The Human Resources Generalist will identify and coordinate onsite training sessions for managers, providing essential information and guidance on HR policies and procedures. Furthermore, the role involves supporting managers with employee relations issues, counseling associates, and preparing for disciplinary actions and grievance resolutions. The Generalist will oversee new hire orientation training, ensuring compliance with exchange policies, benefit eligibility, and mandatory training requirements. Additional responsibilities include coordinating award nominations and presentations, maintaining a library of educational resources, conducting training needs analyses, and assisting management in creating Individual Development Plans for nonexempt associates. The Generalist will also plan and schedule daily work assignments for the HR office and supervise and evaluate the performance of assigned associates. This position may also involve other related duties as assigned, contributing to a clean and safe environment for associates and customers, especially in light of ongoing health protocols.
