About the position

The Human Resource Generalist is responsible for performing HR-related duties at a professional level, closely collaborating with plant management to support various HR functions. This role encompasses employee relations, training, performance management, onboarding, policy implementation, recruitment, and compliance with employment laws.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct recruitment efforts for all nonexempt personnel and temporary employees.
  • Administer various human resource plans and procedures for all organization personnel.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of personnel policies and procedures.
  • Handle all benefit questions, enrollment, and changes.
  • Administer the compensation program and monitor performance evaluations for regular pay increases.
  • Manage plant absenteeism and ensure proper documentation for excessive tardiness or absenteeism.
  • Verify payroll and monitor PTO for all employees.
  • Manage the new employee onboarding process and guide employees through orientation.
  • Handle employee relations counseling, outplacement counseling, and exit interviewing.
  • Maintain and process all Unemployment Notices of entitlement and potential charges in a timely manner.
  • Participate in administrative staff meetings and attend other meetings and seminars.
  • Assist in evaluating reports, decisions, and results of the department in relation to established goals.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, Business Management, or related discipline preferred.
  • 3-5 years of HR experience required.
  • Experience serving a diverse group of employees preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office required; Excel skills preferred.
  • SHRM-CP or PHR certification preferred.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to adapt to a variety of employee issues.

  • Experience in employee relations and performance management.
  • Knowledge of employment law compliance.
