About the position

The Human Resources Generalist position at Commercial Van Interiors, Inc. is a full-time role that plays a crucial part in supporting the HR Director in various daily operations. This includes managing the Human Resources Information System (HRIS), overseeing payroll, administering benefits, and ensuring compliance with employment laws and regulations. The HR Generalist will also be involved in recruitment and onboarding processes, providing essential administrative support to the HR Director, Corporate Controller, and senior executive staff as needed. In this role, the HR Generalist will be responsible for sourcing, screening, interviewing, and testing job candidates, as well as notifying current staff of internal job opportunities. Maintaining accurate personnel records is a key function, which includes documenting new hires, transfers, terminations, and any changes in job classifications or merit increases. The HR Generalist will also administer various employee benefit programs, including medical, dental, vision, life, and disability insurance, ensuring employees are informed about their eligibility and assisting them with application processes. Additionally, the HR Generalist will coordinate worker compensation claims and ensure compliance with necessary documentation, such as I-9 forms and E-Verify. The role requires timely completion of mandated reports, including EEO-1 and OSHA reports. Continuous professional development is encouraged, and the HR Generalist is expected to stay updated on HR best practices and regulations. This position is essential for accomplishing the HR department's goals and supporting the overall mission of the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Assist HR Director in daily Human Resources operations including HRIS, payroll, and benefits administration.
  • Provide administrative support to the Director of Human Resources and senior executive staff as needed.
  • Source, screen, interview, and test job candidates.
  • Notify existing staff of internal job opportunities and maintain personnel records.
  • Administer Medical, Dental, Vision, Life, and Disability programs, advising employees of eligibility and assisting with applications.
  • Maintain human resources records by documenting new hires, transfers, terminations, and changes in job classifications.
  • Ensure all new employees complete orientation and onboarding materials.
  • Coordinate worker compensation claims and documentation with management and medical offices.
  • Document human resources actions ensuring compliance forms are properly completed.
  • Verify timely completion of EEO-1, OSHA, and other mandated reporting.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years Associates degree in an administrative support area.
  • 5 years prior experience in human resources staffing, benefits administration, payroll, policies administration, compliance, and HRIS.
  • Strong software skills utilizing MS 365, Word, Excel, Power Point, HRIS, Microsoft Suite.
  • Excellent administrative writing skills and strong listening skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Fluency in Spanish is preferred due to a large Spanish-speaking workforce.
