About the position

Fincantieri Marinette Marine, a part of the Fincantieri Marine Group, is seeking a Human Resources Generalist to join our team in Marinette, Wisconsin. This position plays a crucial role in providing HR support to the Director and/or Manager of Human Resources within the assigned divisions. The HR Generalist will be responsible for assisting in the recruitment process to ensure that Marinette Marine attracts and successfully places highly competent candidates. This role will also involve leading various HR projects with management oversight and delivering functional HR support as an employee advocate, functional expert, and business driver. The HR Generalist will engage in a wide range of generalist activities, including policy administration, recruitment, labor relations, performance management, regulatory and legal compliance, and employee training and development. The position requires a collaborative approach within a team-based environment, ensuring that HR best practices are developed and instituted across the department's policies, procedures, and processes. Key responsibilities include managing the recruitment process for hourly, non-exempt, and temporary positions, preparing reports and presentations, conducting employee relations investigations, and overseeing performance management programs. The HR Generalist will also utilize various HR systems, such as ADP and SAP, to analyze HR metrics and identify key trends, making recommendations for improvements. This role is essential in maintaining compliance with employment laws and regulations while fostering a positive work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Manage recruiting for assigned hourly, non-exempt, and temporary positions.
  • Post jobs to build candidate pool, review resumes, interview candidates, and create final approved offers.
  • Prepare reports, presentations, business communications, data summaries, and other documents.
  • Perform moderately complex analyses of data to draw inferences or conclusions.
  • Take a lead role in employee relations, including gathering data, conducting investigations, and reporting findings.
  • Develop and institute HR best practices for the department's policies, procedures, and processes.
  • Support inquiries related to benefits, retirement, compensation, etc.
  • Lead routine HR projects including communications, conducting meetings, tracking results, and reporting.
  • Oversee performance management and assist Senior Leaders with the program.
  • Conduct new employee orientation sessions and other HR-related management development training sessions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in human resources or related field is required.
  • 2+ years' experience in an HR Generalist or HR Specialist role, or an Associate's degree with 4+ years of experience.
  • Proficient in MS Office suites and with an applicant tracking system.
  • Knowledge of Human Resources policies and procedures, talent acquisition, and staffing practices.
  • Exceptional drive and motivation to achieve and surpass hiring goals.
  • Experience in employee relations, ADA, FLSA, FMLA, EEO, and other general employment laws preferred.
