About the position

The HR Generalist plays a crucial role in the administration and execution of human resource programs within the organization. This position is responsible for ensuring that all HR policies and company guidelines are applied effectively, and that employees adhere to the established company standards. The HR Generalist will perform a variety of routine tasks that are essential for the smooth operation of HR functions, including recruitment and onboarding, compliance with regulations, benefits administration, and managing employee leaves and accommodations. In addition to these core responsibilities, the HR Generalist will handle all administrative tasks related to HR, which includes entering data into HR information systems and conducting regular audits to ensure accuracy and compliance. The role also involves addressing employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors, and referring complex or sensitive matters to the appropriate staff members. The HR Generalist will assist in the communication and interpretation of the employee handbook and contribute to the development of HR policies. Maintaining accurate employee records is another critical aspect of this role, which includes manual data entry and auditing the database for changes such as status updates, pay rate changes, and new hires. The HR Generalist will also participate in various projects as assigned by the Human Resources Director or other leadership, and will be responsible for developing and executing engaging employee communications campaigns across multiple channels. Confidentiality is paramount in this role, and the HR Generalist must ensure that all information is handled with the utmost discretion. Overall, the HR Generalist is a vital member of the HR team, contributing to the overall effectiveness of human resource management within the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine tasks required to administer and execute human resource programs including recruitment and onboarding, compliance, benefits, and leave management.
  • Handle all administrative tasks including entering data into HR information systems and auditing for accuracy and compliance.
  • Address employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors, referring complex matters to appropriate staff.
  • Assist in the communication, interpretation, and upkeep of the employee handbook, and contribute to policy development.
  • Administer employee leaves and accommodations, maintaining accurate internal records and conducting regular audits.
  • Provide personnel policy and procedure guidance to employees and management.
  • Establish and maintain the accuracy of employee records through manual data entry and database auditing.
  • Participate in projects as assigned by the Human Resources Director or other leadership.
  • Develop, execute, and evaluate innovative employee communications campaigns across multiple channels.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all information and ensure compliance with federal/state/local regulations.

Requirements

  • Valid authorization to work in the United States is required.
  • High school Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) is required.
  • Bachelor's degree in human resources, business administration, or related field is preferred.
  • Knowledge of a broad range of human resource strategies and practices, including compensation, performance management, hiring, and employee relations is required.
  • Ability to read and comprehend instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to write simple correspondence.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations.
  • Experience with word processing, spreadsheets, Internet software, e-mail, and/or database software is required.
  • Basic computer skills are required.
  • Must be able to work flexible hours.
  • Must be hospitable and customer service oriented.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in a similar HR role is preferred.
  • Familiarity with HR information systems and software is a plus.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills are beneficial.
