About the position

The Human Resources Generalist at Ascend plays a crucial role in supporting the HR department and enhancing the overall employee experience. This position involves a variety of essential functions, including payroll management, onboarding and offboarding processes, and providing administrative support to management and staff. The HR Generalist is integral to maintaining operational excellence and contributing to the company's culture and success.

Responsibilities

  • Actively participate in department meetings, offering insights and demonstrating a proactive approach.
  • Prepare internal payroll reports and calculate bonuses, ensuring attention to detail and confidentiality.
  • Provide confidential administrative support, including drafting documents and managing communications.
  • Submit weekly/bi-weekly reports on new hires and upload work verification reports to external systems.
  • Oversee health and wellness benefits and assist in the annual open enrollment process.
  • Enter, reconcile, and process bills for H.S.A. accounts and 401(k) contributions.
  • Support internal staff with research and investigations as needed.
  • Schedule and conduct stay and exit interviews, maintaining relationships with employees.
  • Perform additional tasks or projects as assigned by the HR team.

Requirements

  • 1-2 years of experience in a Human Resources role with a track record of success.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and experience with HRIS systems.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills for professional engagement across all levels.
  • Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to multi-task and prioritize effectively.
  • Analytical thinker with intermediate math skills and proficiency in Excel for data analysis.
  • Proactive participation in departmental meetings with excellent follow-up skills.
  • Team player willing to support colleagues and contribute to a positive environment.
  • Self-starter with initiative and ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Discretion with confidential information and understanding of data privacy.
  • Knowledge of employment laws related to benefits and ability to research effectively.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in conducting stay and exit interviews.
