About the position

The HR Generalist at Columbus Distributing Company plays a crucial role in managing various human resources functions at a professional level. This position encompasses responsibilities in employee relations, HRIS management, training, recruitment and hiring, benefits management, labor relations, and employment equity programs. The HR Generalist will serve as a key advisor and counselor to both management and employees on HR-related issues, working closely with the HR Director to achieve the company's HR goals. This role is designed for a leader who employs a systematic and principle-centered management approach to maximize results in alignment with the company's Mission, Vision, and Values. In this position, the HR Generalist will facilitate and provide training to the workforce, covering topics such as Orientation, Paycom, Benefits, FMLA, and other related development programs. As the administrator and super user of the HRIS Paycom system, the HR Generalist will manage reports and maintain OSHA logs for all facilities, ensuring compliance and processing work-related injury claims while following up with injured workers as necessary. The role also involves addressing employee relations issues, including complaints and harassment allegations, and conducting interviews for job applicants to fill openings. The HR Generalist will partner with employees and management to interpret and communicate various human resource policies, procedures, laws, standards, and government regulations. Additionally, this position will manage and coordinate company events and employee recognition programs, conduct exit interviews, analyze data, and make recommendations for corrective action and continuous improvement. The HR Generalist will also organize and manage the annual online open enrollment communications and election process, oversee payroll for all companies, and handle weekly and bi-weekly 401k administration. Some travel may be required between facilities, and the HR Generalist will perform other related duties as needed.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources or related field.
  • 3 to 5 years of experience in a similar HR role.
  • Labor relations experience preferred but not required.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with HRIS systems, particularly Paycom.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
