About the position

La Rabida Children's Hospital is seeking a dedicated and experienced Human Resources Generalist to join our Human Resource department in Chicago, IL. This full-time position is integral to our mission of improving the quality of life for patients with complex conditions, disabilities, and chronic illnesses. The HR Generalist will provide professional and administrative support across all functional areas of the Human Resources Department, ensuring that our HR programs, policies, and practices are effectively implemented and communicated. In this role, the HR Generalist will manage the Tuition Assistance Program and assist with the administration of FMLA, LOA, and Workers Compensation. The position requires collaboration with the HR Manager and other staff to support employee and labor relations investigations, as well as to coordinate job descriptions, performance evaluations, and employee benefits. The HR Generalist will also take a lead role in the Employee Engagement Survey, ensuring that communication initiatives are in place and that follow-up actions are taken with managers. The successful candidate will analyze HR data to identify patterns and trends, recommend process changes, and implement HR policies and procedures that reflect current regulations and industry standards. Additionally, the HR Generalist will support employee events and programs, provide training for employees and managers, and assist in new hire orientation. Responsibilities

  • Manage the Tuition Assistance Program.
  • Assist with administration of FMLA/LOA/Workers Compensation.
  • Support Human Resources in planning, implementing, communicating, and administering HR programs, policies, and practices.
  • Participate in various HR cross-functional initiatives including performance management, employee engagement, regulatory compliance, and training.
  • Provide support to HR Manager on employee and labor relations investigations.
  • Collaborate with HR Manager and other staff during the offer process to determine salary, incentives, and start dates.
  • Coordinate Job Descriptions, Performance Evaluations, Forms, Employee Benefits, and Retirement Plans to ensure data is up to date.
  • Lead the Employee Engagement Survey and ensure communication initiatives are in place with active follow-up to all Managers.
  • Recommend and implement HR policies and procedures ensuring the Handbook reflects changes.
  • Collaborate with Centers of Expertise and oversee project work to ensure cohesive delivery of HR programs and services.
  • Analyze data to determine patterns or trends and develop strategies for change.
  • Create monthly reports and verify licenses and certifications for patient care professionals.
  • Support employee events and programs sponsored by the Human Resources department.
  • Keep up to date on regulatory compliance and industry standards.
  • Implement new and current regulatory ordinances.
  • Provide support in Employee and Manager training and new hire orientation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree, preferably in Human Resources or related field.
  • Professional in Human Resources (PHR) preferred.
  • 5+ years of Human Resources experience with expertise in multiple areas of HR highly preferred.
  • Current knowledge of federal/state regulations.
  • Computer skills including Microsoft Office, database management, and internet.
  • Workday experience required.
  • Excellent interpersonal assessment, communication, and teamwork skills.
