The Weitz Company is seeking an experienced Human Resources (HR) Generalist to join our Employee Experience team in Des Moines, Iowa. As an HR Generalist, you will play a crucial role in enhancing our organizational culture, improving the employee experience, and building trusted relationships with leaders across various business units. Your efforts will ensure that project teams are well-positioned for success in our critical and growing business units. You will work closely with the Corporate Human Resources team to implement initiatives effectively while ensuring compliance with laws, regulations, and company policies in the respective geographic areas. In this role, you will counsel employees on career paths and personal development opportunities, as well as established policies and procedures. You will collaborate with management to identify employee development opportunities and facilitate employee enhancement initiatives, including staff recognition programs, mentoring, training initiatives, and onboarding processes for new hires. Additionally, you will manage the offboarding process, including conducting exit interviews and maintaining accurate personnel records and HRIS data. Your day-to-day support will be vital for business unit employees, assisting management with performance reviews and providing constructive feedback to direct reports. You will also facilitate employee relocations by coordinating with Corporate HR, project teams, and relocation vendors to ensure a seamless transition for employees. Tracking state and local compliance updates will be part of your responsibilities, and you may be required to travel up to 10% of the time to visit various construction project sites and offices across the United States.
