About the position

The Human Resources (HR) Partner position at the Montana Department of Public Health and Human Services (DPHHS) serves as the primary contact for HR services within a division or divisions. This role encompasses a wide range of HR functions including recruitment, job descriptions, compensation, training, employee relations, and compliance with employment laws. The HR Partner collaborates with division management to enhance HR management and resolve issues related to recruitment, retention, and classification grievances, while also consulting on systematic projects and ensuring the effective delivery of HR services.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the single point of contact for HR services within assigned divisions.
  • Consult on systematic projects such as career ladders and performance management systems.
  • Resolve recruitment and retention issues and classification grievances.
  • Track and monitor the completion of HR services and ensure satisfactory coordination.
  • Provide advice and outstanding customer service regarding HR best practices.
  • Identify patterns and opportunities for improvement across services and divisions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in business or public administration, human resources, journalism, English, psychology, marketing, or a related field.
  • Three years of job-related work experience in HR services such as classification, compensation, recruitment, and performance management.
  • Working knowledge of employment law and human resources principles and practices.
  • Ability to influence best practice adherence and provide excellent customer service.
  • Ability to identify issues and recommend process improvements.
  • State of Montana Classification Certification, or the ability to achieve certification.
