About the position

The Part-Time HR Specialist will support HR operations in the construction and roofing industry, focusing on payroll processing, compliance with Department of Labor regulations, onboarding new hires, and maintaining OSHA logs. This role is essential for ensuring efficient HR practices and compliance in the Vero Beach office, working 20 hours per week with a set schedule on Wednesdays and Thursdays, plus one flexible half day.

Responsibilities

  • Accurately process payroll with a piece-rate pay structure, ensuring timely and correct compensation.
  • Maintain compliance with all Department of Labor regulations and company policies.
  • Oversee the onboarding process for new hires, including paperwork, orientation, and initial training.
  • Maintain and update OSHA logs to track incidents and support a safe work environment.
  • Ensure employee files are up-to-date and meet compliance standards.
  • Provide general HR support as needed, including responding to employee inquiries and assisting with HR projects.

Requirements

  • Proven HR experience in the construction or roofing industry.
  • Proficiency in payroll processing, especially with piece-rate or production-based pay.
  • Strong knowledge of DOL regulations and OSHA record-keeping.
  • Computer savvy - willing to use and learn company apps and software.
  • Excellent communication skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks.
