About the position

The Human Resources Information Systems Specialist (Cyber) position at the Department of Defense involves providing advisory and consultative services regarding the operation, maintenance, and enhancement of HR automated systems. The role requires leading automation projects, translating business needs into technical requirements, and analyzing data to support customer missions. This position is critical for ensuring the efficiency and accuracy of HR operations through effective system management and development.

Responsibilities

  • Provide advisory and consultative services to agency leadership and HR managers regarding HR automated systems.
  • Develop, coordinate, and staff system proposals including specifications and functional requirements.
  • Lead automation projects by interpreting and translating business needs into technical requirements.
  • Design and analyze complex data extracts to produce reliable business intelligence.
  • Represent the agency at conferences and meetings to discuss HR regulations and system development efforts.
  • Interface with DFAS headquarters and IT managers to support HR initiatives.

Requirements

  • One year of specialized experience equivalent to GS-12 level in the federal service.
  • Experience in leading projects related to the development and management of systems and automation tools.
  • Proficiency in programming using APEX or Oracle PL/SQL for system development and testing.
