About the position

As a Human Resources Manager I at HP Hood LLC, you will play a pivotal role in planning and administering policies related to all phases of human resources activities. This position requires a self-driven individual who is eager to advance their career and make a significant impact on the team. You will be responsible for ensuring compliance with legal requirements and government reporting regulations that affect human resources functions. This includes developing and implementing policies, procedures, and reporting mechanisms that align with company goals and legal standards. In this role, you will be actively involved in the recruitment process, which includes identifying, interviewing, testing, and selecting candidates to fill vacant positions. You will also plan and conduct new employee orientations to foster a positive attitude towards the company's objectives. Your responsibilities will extend to responding to inquiries regarding HR policies, procedures, and programs, ensuring that employees are well-informed and supported. You will oversee the activities of the HR department, participating in the development of departmental goals, objectives, and systems. This includes managing the site compensation program, rewriting job descriptions as necessary, and monitoring the performance evaluation program. Additionally, you will manage and monitor career pathing and performance management programs to ensure employee growth and satisfaction. Your role will also involve developing and maintaining an affirmative action program, filing EEO-1 reports annually, and maintaining records to conform to EEO regulations. You will coordinate training and educational activities for the plant, assisting departments in developing relevant training curricula. Employee relations counseling, including coaching and administering corrective actions, will also be a key part of your responsibilities. Finally, you will evaluate departmental reports and results in relation to established goals, recommending new approaches and policies to improve efficiency and service delivery.

Responsibilities

  • Identifies legal requirements and government reporting regulations affecting human resources functions and ensures compliance.
  • Recruits, interviews, tests, and selects employees to fill vacant positions.
  • Plans and conducts new employee orientation to foster a positive attitude toward company goals.
  • Responds to inquiries regarding policies, procedures, and programs.
  • Plans, organizes, and controls all activities of the department, participating in developing department goals, objectives, and systems.
  • Oversees site compensation program; rewrites job descriptions as necessary; monitors performance evaluation program and revises as necessary.
  • Manages and monitors career pathing/performance management programs.
  • Develops and maintains affirmative action program; files EEO-1 annually; maintains other records, reports, and logs to conform to EEO regulations.
  • Coordinates training/educational activities for the Plant and assists departments with the development of training/educational curriculum and activities.
  • Provides employee relations counseling including coaching and corrective action administration.
  • Evaluates reports, decisions, and results of department in relation to established goals and recommends new approaches, policies, and procedures.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and/or 5 years' experience in training and human resources.
  • Computer knowledge is essential.
  • Accounting and financial knowledge important.
  • Ability to work well with all levels of management and employees.
  • Training, communication, and public speaking skills are a must.
