About the position

The Talent Acquisition Manager at Georgia Southern University plays a pivotal role in overseeing the operations of the Talent Acquisition team, which is responsible for employment activities for students, faculty, staff, and other entities across the university's campuses. This position is integral to ensuring that the Talent Acquisition team provides timely and effective support, adheres to university service standards, and fosters efficient communication within the team and with the broader university community. The manager will supervise a team of staff and student assistants, guiding them in their daily tasks and ensuring that they meet the needs of the university's diverse constituents. In this role, the Talent Acquisition Manager will be tasked with managing functions and activities that align with the university's mission and strategic plan. This includes building and maintaining relationships with various campus and community stakeholders, supporting HR staff in resolving issues, and interpreting HR policies and procedures. The manager will also be responsible for ensuring compliance with federal and state laws, as well as university policies, while assessing the needs of faculty, staff, and student employees to ensure that adequate services are provided by the Talent Acquisition team. Additionally, the manager will oversee critical processes such as criminal background investigations for staff, faculty, temporary, and student employees, as well as employee drug and alcohol screenings. This position requires a strong commitment to customer service, effective communication skills, and the ability to lead a team efficiently. The Talent Acquisition Manager will play a key role in shaping the university's approach to recruitment and employment, ensuring that the institution attracts and retains top talent to support its mission of academic excellence and community service.

Responsibilities

  • Manage functions and activities of Talent Acquisition consistent with University's mission and strategic plan
  • Supervise Talent Acquisition Team
  • Build and maintain relationships with campus and community constituents
  • Support HR staff and University community to effectively resolve problems, interpret/communicate HR policies and procedures and recommend courses of action
  • Ensure compliance with federal and state laws and regulations and University and USG policies and procedures
  • Assess faculty, staff and student employee needs to ensure adequate services are available from Talent Acquisition
  • Administer the Criminal Background Investigation practices for staff, faculty, temporary and student employees as directed by Office of Legal Affairs
  • Oversee employee drug and alcohol screenings for the University

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree OR Seven (7) or more years of related work experience
  • Three (3) or more years of related work experience
  • Consistently exhibit engaging customer service
  • Ability to support various constituencies served by the University
  • Proven proficiency with computers including Microsoft Office, Google, and/or applications as required for specific position
  • Ability to lead team in an effective and efficient manner
  • Adhere to University policies and procedures to meet Institutional goals and support University's mission for student success
  • Knowledge of employment law
  • Effective communication (verbal and written), organizational and human relations skills
  • Expertise in Talent Acquisition

Nice-to-haves

  • PHR or SHRM-CP certification
  • Progressive experience in employment or recruitment
  • Prior experience supervising full-time or part-time staff members
