About the position

In this role, the HR Manager is responsible for effectively managing, prioritizing, strategizing, and driving HR workflows and initiatives that align with organizational business objectives. The HR Manager position includes the execution and oversight of recruitment, retention, employee relations, employee engagement, performance management, organizational design, health & safety, and supporting day-to-day operations. The position is responsible for providing consultation, training, and support to the organization within all facets of HR including compliance, policies, procedures, employee relations, recruitment & retention, terminations, and legal compliance. To excel in this role, the HR Manager should be an excellent communicator, possess a positive attitude, and have thorough knowledge in HR law and HR management principles. The hired candidate is expected to work on-site at least 3 days a week.

Responsibilities

  • Oversees, manages, and leads development of department workflows and goals.
  • Partners with, and provides recommendations to, the leadership team to develop and implement HR strategies aligned with the overall business strategy.
  • Participates in a process of organization development to plan, communicate, and integrate the results of strategic planning throughout the organization.
  • Develops a high level of business knowledge and strong partnership with managers, supervisors, and employees.
  • Provides support and guidance to management, and other staff when complex specialized, and sensitive HR questions and issues arise.
  • Leads evaluation of employee relations and human resources policies, programs, and practices.
  • Manages employee relations issues including facilitating and resolving organizational conflict.
  • Conducts investigations when employee complaints or concerns are brought forth.
  • Provides organization-wide leadership on all personnel policies and practices.
  • Conducts a continuing study of all Human Resources policies & programs.
  • Establishes HR departmental measurements that support company goals.
  • Utilizes the HRIS system to eliminate administrative tasks; empower employees.
  • Administers LOA, FMLA, Work Comp, Unemployment, Benefits and employee records changes in HRIS.
  • Manages the talent acquisition process for managerial, exempt, and professional roles.
  • Manages the company wage/salary structure & pay policies.
  • Ensures job descriptions are up to date and compliant with all local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Participates in the annual benefit review process.
  • Creates, plans, and executes organization-wide trainings.
  • Supports the organization on employee development to include training, development plans, and career pathing.
  • Actively participates in staff meetings, Ops meetings, Town Hall meetings, etc.
  • Leads company compliance with all existing governmental and labor legal and government reporting requirements (EEO-1, OSHA 300, AA).
  • Promotes employee communication and feedback through various avenues.
  • Leads the evolution and implementation of company safety and health programs.
  • Conducts & manages HR audits to maintain compliance.
  • Focuses on enhancing company culture that emphasizes GSSC's values.
  • Maintains professional and technological knowledge via continuing education.
  • Establishes credibility throughout the organization as an effective listener and problem solver.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources Management, Business Administration, or related field required.
  • 5+ years' proven experience in a similar role.
  • Self-starter with a strong work ethic.
  • Demonstrated ability in leading teams and organizing and executing strategic plans.
  • Exposure to some or all the main HR disciplines including recruitment, performance management, organizational development, compensation, benefits, HRIS, and employee relations.
  • Ability to build strong relationships with internal stakeholders.
  • Knowledge and understanding of Federal, State, and Local legislation regarding employment and labor laws.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office including SharePoint, Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to use sound judgment and discretion in dealing with highly confidential information.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with all levels of employees.
  • Process-minded/focused, strong problem resolution skills.
  • High attention to details and organization.
  • Displays and embodies team orientation, ability to develop, maintain and utilize relationships at all levels.
  • Can work effectively across organizational boundaries to achieve common goals.
  • Must have the ability to make recommendations to effectively resolve problems or issues, by using sound judgment that is consistent with business standards, practices, policies, procedures, and regulations.
  • Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information and situations with discretion.
  • Ability to maintain composure and professionalism in times of stress.

Nice-to-haves

  • Current HR Certification preferred (aPHR, PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP).
  • Familiar with FMLA, AA, OSHA, Work Comp, EEO, ADA, FLSA.
  • Background in workplace safety/OSHA requirements and program development.
  • ADP Workforce Now (WFN) experience.
