About the position

The Human Resources Manager will establish and lead the HR department within Art Plumbing Company, focusing on compliance, employee development, and HR policy implementation. This role is pivotal in supporting the executive team and ensuring that HR practices align with federal, state, and local laws. The position offers an opportunity to make a significant impact on the organization by enhancing employee relations and fostering a positive workplace culture.

Responsibilities

  • Support Executive Team with guidance on employment laws and HR practices.
  • Maintain hiring, discipline, and termination practices in compliance with regulations.
  • Post jobs and collaborate with hiring managers to ensure qualified candidates are hired.
  • Recruit, develop, and retain employees using internal programs and resources.
  • Ensure compliance training is completed by all personnel annually.
  • Conduct intakes for HR-related complaints and escalate as necessary.
  • Coordinate new hire requests, interviewing, and documentation processes.
  • Create annual Affirmative Action Plan and related reports.
  • Maintain employee files and records in compliance with retention policies.
  • Work with Payroll Team on payroll-related tasks and benefits administration.
  • Manage Corporate Benefits enrollments and changes.
  • Handle employee conflicts and process terminations in compliance with guidelines.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resource Management or a related field required.
  • 8+ years progressive experience in human resources required, including recruiting and employee relations.
  • Experience providing insights and guidance to senior leadership.
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
  • Experience maintaining confidentiality in sensitive matters.
  • Experience establishing a Human Resources department is a plus.
  • HR experience in the construction industry or union environment is a plus.
  • PHR certification preferred.
