About the position

The Human Resources Manager at this Hilton-branded property in Dana Point, CA, plays a crucial role in the seamless management and execution of all Human Resources efforts. This position encompasses a wide range of responsibilities, including recruitment, benefits administration, and employee relations. The HR Manager will be responsible for the development, implementation, and administration of all HR functions for the property, ensuring that the HR practices align with the overall goals of the organization. This role is integral to the management team and will focus on talent development and training of staff, fostering a positive work environment that promotes employee engagement and satisfaction. In this position, the HR Manager will provide direction and support in various areas such as staffing, training, compensation, payroll, and benefits. They will also be responsible for managing employee relations, performance management, and budgets, while ensuring compliance with legal requirements. The HR Manager must be adept at considering the legal implications of HR decisions to minimize potential financial risks. They will recommend, monitor, and maintain HR practices and procedures, effectively communicating any changes to the staff. Additionally, the HR Manager will maintain all legally required employment postings, manage personnel records through electronic filing, and oversee the property’s payroll and timekeeping systems. They will serve as a point of contact for inquiries from hotel management, Corporate HR, Payroll, Accounting, and HRIL staff, and will generate reports on various HR data as requested. The HR Manager will also coordinate department meetings, safety programs, continuing education, community relations, and employee relations initiatives, ensuring that all HR functions are executed efficiently and effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Providing direction and support in staffing, training, compensation, payroll and benefits, management practices, employee relations, performance management, and budgets.
  • Considering the legal impact of HR decisions to minimize potential financial risks.
  • Recommending, monitoring, maintaining, and administering HR practices and procedures, and communicating changes to staff.
  • Maintaining all legally required employment postings on the property.
  • Maintaining personnel records via electronic filing.
  • Managing property payroll and timekeeping systems.
  • Communicating information to the Payroll Department.
  • Responding to inquiries from hotel management, Corporate HR, Payroll, Accounting, and HRIL staff.
  • Knowledge of FMLA, employee investigation procedures, AAP, OFCCP, and DOL.
  • Generating reports on a variety of data as requested.
  • Responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of the HR department.
  • Coordinating all department meetings, safety programs, continuing education, community relations, and employee relations initiatives.
  • Performing all other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • 2 years' experience in Human Resources in a generalist capacity.
  • Experience in Human Resources Support Function and HRIS.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources or a similar field.
  • Prior Hospitality experience.
  • PHR or SPHR certification.
