About the position

As a Human Resources Manager at Novolex, you will play a pivotal role in strategically partnering with plant leadership to enhance employee retention, training and development, and compliance initiatives. Your responsibilities will include assisting employees with day-to-day HR inquiries, creating and administering human resource policies and procedures, and overseeing all recruitment-related activities. This includes posting open positions, screening candidates, conducting interviews, and updating job descriptions. You will also conduct orientations and manage the onboarding process for newly hired employees, perform exit interviews, and conduct workplace investigations while assisting with employee relations counseling. In addition to these responsibilities, you will compile and report HR metrics to management, analyze local labor and wage trends, and develop initiatives to maintain competitiveness in the labor market. You will assist with the annual performance review process and conduct weekly staff review and retention meetings with plant leadership. Your administrative duties will encompass employment verification requests, processing unemployment claims, tracking attendance and vacation schedules, processing employee benefits paperwork, and maintaining employee personnel files. Ensuring legal compliance with regulations such as ADA, EEO, FMLA, and FLSA will also be a critical part of your role. You will accurately reconcile Kronos time sheets and prepare them for weekly payroll processing.

Responsibilities

  • Create, improve, and administer human resource policies and procedures.
  • Monitor and oversee all recruitment-related activities including posting open positions, screening candidates, conducting interviews, and updating job descriptions.
  • Conduct orientation and manage the onboarding process for newly hired employees.
  • Perform exit interviews.
  • Conduct workplace investigations and assist with employee relations counseling.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree, preferably in Human Resources, or a combination of education and 3-5+ years of work-related experience required.
  • HRCI or SHRM Certification preferred.
  • Minimum 3 to 5+ years of Human Resources experience.
  • Experience with Kronos, ADP or similar HRIS and Applicant Tracking Systems.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent critical thinking and decision-making skills.
  • Team player with ability to build lasting productive business relationships with hourly employees, management, and peers.
  • Must possess a high degree of professionalism in handling confidential information.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends when required.
  • Strong ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Strong analytical, organizational and auditing skills required.
  • Critical decision maker with the ability to work independently.
