About the position

As a Human Resources Manager at Swank Construction Company, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing all aspects of the human resources function within our organization. This position is essential for ensuring that our HR practices align with our commitment to quality, safety, and innovation, which have been the hallmarks of our family-owned business since the 1930s. You will be responsible for developing and implementing comprehensive recruitment strategies to attract qualified candidates for various positions, conducting interviews, screening resumes, and recommending top candidates for hire. Additionally, you will manage the onboarding process for new hires, ensuring a smooth transition into the company and fostering a positive work environment that promotes strong employee morale and engagement. Your responsibilities will also include overseeing employee relations activities, which encompass performance management, disciplinary actions, and conflict resolution. You will develop and implement company policies and procedures to ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local employment laws, and manage the company's employee benefits program, including health insurance and retirement plans. Effective communication with employees regarding benefits programs will be crucial, as will identifying training needs and developing or sourcing training programs to enhance employee skills and knowledge. Moreover, you will be tasked with developing, implementing, and managing a comprehensive Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) and Affirmative Action (AA) program to ensure a diverse and inclusive workplace. This includes monitoring hiring and promotion practices to ensure fairness and preparing all required EEO/AA reports and records. Staying up-to-date on industry trends and best practices in HR and training will be essential for your success in this role.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement comprehensive recruitment strategies to attract qualified candidates for all open positions.
  • Conduct interviews, screen resumes, and recommend top candidates for hire.
  • Manage the onboarding process for new hires, ensuring a smooth transition into the company.
  • Oversee employee relations activities, including performance management, disciplinary actions, and employee conflict resolution.
  • Foster a positive and productive work environment with strong employee morale and engagement.
  • Develop and implement company policies and procedures to ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local employment laws.
  • Manage and maintain the company's employee benefits program, including health insurance, retirement plans, and other benefits.
  • Communicate effectively with employees regarding benefits programs and handle any related questions or issues.
  • Identify training needs for all staff and develop or source training programs to enhance employee skills and knowledge.
  • Stay up-to-date on industry trends and best practices in HR and training.
  • Develop, implement, and manage a comprehensive EEO/AA program to ensure a diverse and inclusive workplace.
  • Monitor all hiring and promotion practices to ensure they are fair and unbiased.
  • Prepare and maintain all required EEO/AA reports and records.
  • Stay up-to-date on all EEO/AA laws and regulations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources Management, Business Administration, or a related field - Required.
  • Four (4) to six (6) years of experience in a human resources role - Required.
  • Proven experience in all aspects of the HR function, including recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, benefits administration, and training and development - Required.
  • Strong understanding of EEO/AA laws and regulations, including in relation to PennDOT and federal government contracts - Required.
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite and HR software systems, including Paycor - Required.
  • Valid driver's license - Required.
