About the position

The Human Resources Manager at Merrimack Autism Consultants will lead and manage the HR functions of the organization, providing strategic guidance to ensure compliance, employee engagement, and operational excellence. This role encompasses various responsibilities including recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, compensation management, and HR compliance, while also fostering a positive and inclusive workplace culture.

Responsibilities

  • Lead strategic HR planning and implement policies and programs that support the company's objectives.
  • Oversee recruitment, onboarding, and retention efforts to attract and retain top talent.
  • Manage employee relations, conflict resolution, and performance management initiatives, including conducting performance reviews.
  • Ensure legal compliance with federal, state, and local HR regulations, including I-9, FMLA, PFML, EEO, ADA, and other relevant laws.
  • Lead compensation and benefits administration, including payroll, total rewards strategies, and compliance investigations.
  • Develop and implement HR metrics and dashboards to support data-driven decision-making and track employee data such as attendance and utilization metrics.
  • Direct HRIS, ATS, and Time and Attendance systems for efficient operations.
  • Manage legally required background checks, including CORI and SORI compliance.
  • Lead DEI initiatives to promote an inclusive culture within the company.
  • Facilitate employee safety and well-being programs, ensuring a safe and compliant work environment.
  • Handle confidential matters with discretion and professionalism at all times.
  • Assist with planning and implementing HR policies and activities, including updating company policies to meet state guidelines and enforcing practices such as sexual harassment and equal employment opportunity policies.
  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders, including the CEO and executive staff, combining communication and problem-solving skills to ensure compliance with HR laws.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field is required; a master's degree is preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in Human Resources management, preferably in a service industry such as healthcare, human services, or hospitality.
  • HR certification (e.g., SHRM-CP, PHR) is required; senior certification (e.g., SHRM-SCP, SPHR) is preferred.
  • Experience managing a team of HR professionals, with a proven track record of leadership in HR operations.
  • Knowledge of federal and state HR laws, compliance, and best practices.
  • Experience with HRIS, ATS, and employee management systems.
  • Strong conflict resolution and interpersonal skills.
