About the position

The Human Resources Manager at Baker Garden & Gift is responsible for overseeing all aspects of human resources practices and processes, with a strong focus on recruiting and team building. This role is crucial for fostering a happy and productive workplace that aligns with the company's vision and core values. The HR Manager will support various entities within the organization, including retail, farm, and landscape departments, ensuring compliance with regulations and promoting an exceptional workplace culture.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the staffing process including recruitment strategies, screening, interviewing, hiring, and onboarding.
  • Lead seasonal hiring to equal around 100 employees by May 1st.
  • Inform job applicants of job duties, responsibilities, benefits, schedules, working conditions, and promotion opportunities.
  • Perform onboarding, orientation, new hire check-ins, exit interviews, and performance and salary reviews.
  • Explain human resources policies, procedures, laws, and standards to new and existing employees.
  • Investigate employee issues and conflicts and bring them to resolution.
  • Use performance management tools to provide guidance and feedback to the team.
  • Establish job descriptions for all employees in collaboration with managers and ensure performance standards are met.
  • Maintain and complete current personnel files, complying with confidentiality regulations.
  • Process payroll, review timecards, and manage employee benefits and records.
  • Create labor budgets and partner with leaders on expectations.
  • Maintain HR systems and processes and implement safety programs.
  • Manage WSI claims and analyze trends in compensation and benefits.
  • Assist with programs for staff training and professional development.
  • Lead, monitor, and enhance employee engagement, team building, and company events.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.

Requirements

  • Associate or bachelor's degree in human resources or related field.
  • Experience in a similar role or internship.
  • HR Certifications preferred but not required.
  • Experience in a supervisory or management role preferred but not required.
  • Retail experience is a plus.
  • Exceptional organizational skills.
  • Excellent writing skills with the ability to create professional documents and communications.
  • Motivation to develop efficiencies and streamline processes.
