About the position

Pactiv Evergreen Inc. is seeking a Human Resources Manager to lead and direct the routine functions of the Human Resources (HR) department. This role is pivotal in managing the HR operations, which include hiring and interviewing staff, administering pay, benefits, and leave, and enforcing company policies and practices. The Human Resources Manager will partner with the leadership team to understand and execute the organization's human resource and talent strategy, particularly as it relates to current and future talent needs, recruiting, retention, and succession planning. The successful candidate will provide support and guidance to HR generalists, management, and other staff when complex, specialized, and sensitive questions and issues arise. This may involve administering and executing routine tasks in delicate circumstances, such as providing reasonable accommodations, investigating allegations of wrongdoing, and managing terminations. The HR Manager will also oversee the talent acquisition process, which includes recruitment, interviewing, and hiring of qualified job applicants, particularly for managerial, exempt, and professional roles. Collaboration with departmental managers to understand the skills and competencies required for openings is essential. In addition, the HR Manager will analyze trends in compensation and benefits, researching and proposing competitive base and incentive pay programs to ensure the organization attracts and retains top talent. The role also involves creating learning and development programs and initiatives that provide internal development opportunities for employees. Maintaining compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, as well as reviewing policies and practices to ensure compliance, is a critical responsibility. The HR Manager will stay informed about trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law, and will perform other duties as assigned.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and direct the routine functions of the Human Resources department.
  • Recruit, interview, hire, and train new staff in the department.
  • Oversee the daily workflow of the HR department.
  • Provide constructive and timely performance evaluations.
  • Handle discipline and termination of employees in accordance with company policy.
  • Partner with the leadership team to understand and execute the organization's human resource and talent strategy.
  • Provide support and guidance to HR generalists, management, and other staff on complex HR issues.
  • Manage the talent acquisition process, including recruitment, interviewing, and hiring of qualified job applicants.
  • Analyze trends in compensation and benefits and propose competitive pay programs.
  • Create learning and development programs for internal employee development.
  • Oversee employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations.
  • Maintain compliance with employment laws and regulations.
  • Stay informed about trends and best practices in human resources.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field required.
  • A minimum of three years of human resource management experience preferred.
  • SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP highly desired.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and delegate when appropriate.
  • Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
  • Thorough knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Proficiency with or ability to quickly learn the organization's HRIS and talent management systems.
