About the position

The Human Resources Onboarding and Retention Specialist (OARS) at Presbyterian Homes & Services (PHS) plays a crucial role in supporting new employees throughout the hiring process, focusing on onboarding and orientation. This position aims to enhance employee retention by analyzing turnover data, building relationships, and implementing initiatives that foster a supportive work environment. The role is grant-funded and scheduled to start in January 2024, continuing through December 2025.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a dedicated facility resource for new employee onboarding and orientation.
  • Initiate and deploy program tools to support the onboarding process.
  • Disseminate data to team members regarding employee retention and turnover.
  • Assist in determining reasons for employee departures to improve retention.
  • Build relationships and initiatives to support employee retention efforts.
  • Deploy a facility action plan to integrate program initiatives into the organization.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in human resource management, employee relations, business administration, or related field preferred but not required.
  • Project management experience preferred or willingness to learn.
  • Experience in hiring, supervising, and/or onboarding is a plus.
  • Proficient computer skills with Microsoft Office applications and other required software programs.
  • Ability to learn how to navigate and leverage data from HR software platforms.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication and organizational skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, projects, and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Ability to maintain confidential information.
  • Demonstrated ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.

  • Proficient with, or willing to learn, continuous quality improvement.
  • Ability to demonstrate high emotional intelligence.
