The Referee position at Dye Clay YMCA involves representing the YMCA and maintaining positive relationships with members, parents, and youth. The role requires the referee to begin each game with a prayer or devotion, ensuring that the game reflects YMCA values. The referee is responsible for diffusing conflict situations that may arise involving players, fans, or captains, and must communicate any inappropriate behavior to the Sports Coordinator or Director. Enforcing the rules of the specific sport and adhering to the YMCA Sports philosophy is crucial. The referee serves as a positive role model and must have knowledge of emergency and safety procedures. Attendance at all required YMCA trainings and meetings is mandatory, and the referee must maintain an appropriate dress code while representing the YMCA. In addition to officiating games, the referee is responsible for gathering all necessary equipment, supplies, and materials for games, setting up before the game, and cleaning up afterward. Monitoring the gym or fields during practices and reporting any negative behavior to the appropriate channels is also part of the job. The referee must ensure that all First Coast YMCA standards and best practices are implemented and followed, applying YMCA policies and procedures related to best practices, emergency procedures, medical and disciplinary situations, and child abuse prevention. Ensuring the health and safety of all members and guests is a top priority, which includes inspecting the physical space to ensure safety, orderliness, sanitation, and cleanliness of facilities.
