About the position

The Human Resources Operations Analyst at Hofstra University plays a crucial role in supporting various HR functions through functional and technical expertise. This position is responsible for maintaining and updating employee records in the Human Resources Information System (HRIS) and other HR databases, ensuring that all data is accurate and up-to-date. The analyst will support HR Client Services processes, which include onboarding, offboarding, and processing payroll change documents, thereby facilitating a smooth transition for employees throughout their lifecycle at the university. In addition to these responsibilities, the analyst will assist with fiscal and calendar year-end processes, developing reports to monitor compliance with regulatory changes and benefits open enrollment. The role also involves completing compensation and regulatory surveys, such as IPEDS, AAUP, and the Chronicle of Great Colleges, which are essential for maintaining the university's competitive edge in attracting talent. The Human Resources Operations Analyst will be tasked with developing visually compelling reports, dashboards, and presentations to effectively communicate HR metrics and data insights to stakeholders. This position is pivotal in driving HR digital strategy by leveraging existing technologies and introducing innovative ideas that enhance the user experience for HR clients. Collaboration is key in this role, as the analyst will work closely with HR business partners and other stakeholders to troubleshoot issues and streamline workflows, ultimately improving efficiency and accuracy within HR operations. Compliance with HR policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements is a critical aspect of the job, and the analyst will participate in various HR projects and initiatives, including system upgrades, audits, and policy reviews. Additionally, the analyst will provide technical support and training to HR staff and end-users on HR systems, ensuring that all team members are equipped to utilize the tools effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains and updates employee records in HRIS (Human Resources Information System) and other HR databases.
  • Supports HR Client Services processes such as onboarding, offboarding and processing payroll change documents.
  • Assists with fiscal and calendar year end processes and develops reports to monitor compliance with regulatory changes and benefits open enrollment.
  • Completes compensation and regulatory surveys (IPEDS, AAUP, Chronicle of Great Colleges, Common Data Set, NYSED).
  • Develops visually compelling reports, dashboards, and presentations to effectively communicate HR Metrics and data insights to stakeholders.
  • Drives HR digital strategy by leveraging existing technologies and introducing new ideas in support of a client-first user experience.
  • Collaborates with HR business partners and other stakeholders to troubleshoot issues and streamline workflows to improve efficiency and accuracy.
  • Ensures compliance with HR policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Information Systems, or related field.
  • Minimum 2-4 years prior experience in HR operations, HRIS administration, or HR analytics.
  • Strong analytical skills with proficiency in data analysis and reporting tools (e.g., PowerBI, Tableau).
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Access and Excel, including use of VLOOKUP functions, pivot tables and charts.

Nice-to-haves

  • Detail-oriented and organized with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Proficient with or the ability to quickly learn the organization's HRIS/payroll system (Ellucian Banner) and other employee management software.
  • Experience with HRIS platforms (e.g., Workday, ADP, SAP) preferred.
  • Knowledge of or interest in relational databases and/or data warehouses is a plus.
  • Demonstrated high level of integrity, discretion, and confidentiality.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Solid understanding of HR processes and compliance requirements.
