About the position

Van Cleef Engineering Associates LLC is seeking a Human Resources Operations Specialist to join their team in Hillsborough, NJ. This role involves collaborating with the HR Director across various HR functions, including Talent Acquisition, Benefits Administration, and Compliance. Responsibilities

  • Assisting with talent acquisition utilizing an Applicant Tracking System (ATS) and online platforms such as Handshake
  • Leading the new-hire process including sending offer letters, conducting pre-employment screenings, and coordinating onboarding and new-hire orientations
  • Handling Benefits administration, including onboarding, offboarding, life changes, LOA, COBRA, open enrollment period
  • Responding quickly and efficiently to employee requests and resource needs, such as queries regarding HR procedure, policy, benefits programs
  • Partnering with HR Director to manage employee benefit plans, set up new hires, vendor management and employee communications
  • Managing leave of absence in accordance with local legislation
  • Understanding the business environment and translating its effect on HR for local, regional and corporate feedback
  • Partnering with HR and Operations functions and internal resources to execute corporate wide initiatives and client specific programs
  • Maintaining the company HRIS system completely and accurately and leading EEO database management and reporting
  • Providing HR Compliance support and conducting internal audits to ensure compliance with Federal, State and local employment laws
  • Ensuring Form I-9 compliance and maintaining proper recordkeeping
  • Providing insight and support to employee engagement programs
  • Maintaining personal and confidential information and matters regarding personnel records, medical information, employee relations and organizational changes
  • Working closely with payroll to ensure issue-free pay processing
  • Assisting the H.R. Director with daily assignments, special projects and new initiatives
  • Acting as back up to payroll, when necessary

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree preferred, in a business-related topic, human resources, or psychology
  • 2-3 years of H.R. experience, preferably at a professional consulting firm
  • Effective and efficient communication, data management and interpersonal skills
  • Strong skills in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Power Point)
  • Working knowledge of Human Resources policy and Federal and State labor laws, most specifically NJ and PA
  • Knowledge of and capacity to learn many facets of Human Resources including the functional areas of recruiting, talent management, compliance, benefits administration, leave administration and compensation
  • The ability to maintain confidentiality and to treat every level of staff with respect, professionalism and empathy
  • Strong technical skills; ideally having experience with HRIS and ATS systems, preferably Deltek Vision and ADP
