About the position

The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) is seeking a dynamic and experienced Human Resources Partner Generalist to serve as the primary HR contact for a college, school, or large department within the University. This role is pivotal in managing human resources services for employees within a large, complex division, department, college, or school, in coordination with the Office of Human Resources. The Human Resources Partner Generalist will be responsible for providing comprehensive HR services to employees, ensuring the delivery of high-quality support and guidance. This includes overseeing the selection of applicants during the employment process, ensuring the best fit for the organization, and administering human resource policies while acting as a front-line advisor to department administrators on HR issues. In this role, the Human Resources Partner Generalist will act as a liaison between the assigned department and the Office of Human Resources for all academic and non-academic HR-related matters. Compliance with university human resource policies and procedures is a critical aspect of this position. The individual will also manage faculty and staff recruitment, serving as the faculty relations liaison, and may supervise administrative staff while managing HR-related projects as required. The ideal candidate will have proven experience in human resources management, ideally within a large and complex organization, and possess a strong understanding of HR policies and procedures. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential, as the role requires advising and supporting department administrators while managing multiple HR-related projects simultaneously.

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive HR services to employees, ensuring the delivery of high-quality support and guidance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field.
  • Three (3) years of related experience in human resources management, ideally within a large and complex organization.
  • Strong understanding of HR policies and procedures.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to advise and support department administrators.
  • Ability to manage multiple HR-related projects simultaneously.
  • Experience in faculty and staff recruitment and relations is highly desirable.
