About the position

The Human Resources (HR) Partner at Colorado State University (CSU) serves as the primary HR contact for the English, Philosophy, and Race, Gender, and Ethnic Studies departments within the College of Liberal Arts. This role is pivotal in developing, overseeing, and managing tailored departmental recruitment strategies, implementing effective employee retention strategies, and managing the employee lifecycle from onboarding to offboarding. The HR Partner will also be responsible for performance management, professional development programs, and internal compensation processes, ensuring compliance with federal and state laws as well as university policies. This position requires a comprehensive understanding of human resources practices and the ability to apply this knowledge in a dynamic environment. The HR Partner will report to the Senior Human Resources Manager and will be accountable for department-wide HR initiatives while collaborating on broader college initiatives. Successful candidates will demonstrate a strong work ethic, a focus on internal customer service, and the ability to work collaboratively with various stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary HR contact for designated departments within the College of Liberal Arts.
  • Develop and manage departmental recruitment strategies tailored to specific needs.
  • Implement effective employee retention strategies and performance management processes.
  • Oversee onboarding and offboarding processes for new and exiting employees.
  • Conduct exit surveys and analyze data to identify trends and improve retention.
  • Create and manage performance evaluation processes for faculty and administrative staff.
  • Advise department chairs on HR initiatives and compliance with policies and regulations.
  • Analyze workforce needs and forecast future staffing requirements.
  • Manage all departmental recruitment efforts, including job postings and candidate screenings.
  • Advise managers on employment laws and policies, ensuring compliance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in human resources, business management, organizational development, or a related field.
  • Two years of professional HR experience, including experience with HR Information Systems/Applicant Tracking Systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and priorities effectively.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly.
  • Commitment to fostering a diverse and inclusive work environment.

Nice-to-haves

  • HR or Payroll experience in a higher education environment.
  • Master's degree in human resources, business administration, or a related field.
  • Four or more years of progressively responsible professional experience in HR.
  • Experience with Workday, PeopleAdmin, Oracle, ADP, or similar personnel systems.
  • Professional certification such as PHR/SHRM-CP.
