About the position

As a dynamic, rapidly growing company, we are looking for a purpose-driven and dedicated talent to join our Human Resources team. The Human Resources & Payroll Manager is a key leader and business partner responsible for overseeing and managing various HR functions that support the growth and success of Smoothie King. This role encompasses payroll (company-wide), compensation, employee relations, recruiting, onboarding, training, and development (for assigned departments). The role requires strong organizational skills, an aptitude for process improvement, and a commitment to promoting Smoothie King's mission, culture, and core values.

Responsibilities

  • Manage full-cycle, multi-state bi-weekly payroll for hourly and salaried team members.
  • Ensure accuracy and compliance in payroll entries, tax filings, and benefit deductions.
  • Manage tax and compliance activities through ADP Smart Compliance.
  • Serve as an administrator for the payroll system.
  • Partner with Accounting and Finance team to reconcile payroll and ensure accuracy of payroll funding.
  • Develop ad hoc financial and operational reporting as needed.
  • Facilitate audits such as 401(k) audit, Form 5500, Workers Compensation audit, and financial audits by preparing and providing documentation to auditors.
  • Ensure accurate and timely year-end coordination and reporting (e.g., W-2, 1095's).
  • Maintain knowledge of federal and state payroll regulations and investigate and resolve payroll-related inquiries.
  • Implement policies and drive process improvements in alignment with business requirements.
  • Collaborate with the Chief People Officer to maintain and enhance brand-wide compensation policies and procedures.
  • Oversee the execution of annual compensation refresh activities, including data analysis, benchmarking, and updates to salary structures.
  • Administer the bonus program and ensure alignment with brand goals.
  • Serve as a trusted resource for employee relations, addressing concerns and promoting a positive workplace culture.
  • Manage and resolve employee relations issues in a professional and timely manner.
  • Support recruiting and onboarding activities for assigned departments in collaboration with the HR Manager responsible for leading company-wide recruitment.
  • Partner with leadership to identify and address team development needs.
  • Champion Smoothie King's culture by organizing and supporting initiatives that enhance team engagement.
  • Drive the 'Power Up' performance management program to empower leaders and strengthen workplace culture.
  • Conduct adhoc compensation studies to ensure market competitiveness.
  • Implement HR policies and improve processes to align with business needs and enhance operational efficiency.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field (or commensurate experience).
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive HR experience, including payroll management and employee relations within the food and beverage industry, required.
  • HR certification such as SHRM-CP, PHR, or equivalent preferred.
  • Experience with ADP Workforce Now or similar HRIS platforms is required.
  • Strong understanding of payroll laws, regulations, and compliance requirements.
