About the position

The Payroll Specialist at PepperPointe Partnerships is responsible for managing all aspects of payroll processing with accuracy and efficiency. This role requires a strong understanding of payroll regulations and procedures, as well as excellent communication and organizational skills. Responsibilities

  • Process payroll for employees accurately and in a timely manner, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations and company policies.
  • Maintain payroll records and documentation, including employee information, timekeeping records, tax withholdings, and other relevant data.
  • Handle all payroll-related inquiries from employees, providing timely and accurate responses to ensure a positive employee experience.
  • Collaborate with HR and finance teams to ensure alignment on payroll-related matters, including new hires, terminations, and changes in employment status.
  • Reconcile payroll reports and resolve any discrepancies or errors promptly.
  • Stay informed about changes in payroll regulations and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local laws.
  • Monitor payroll tax filings, including quarterly and year-end filings, ensuring accuracy and compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Answer queries from the payroll service to resolve tax and payroll issues.
  • Assist with payroll-related projects and initiatives as needed, including system upgrades or implementations.
  • Generate payroll reports and analyze data to identify trends or areas for improvement.
  • Maintain confidentiality of payroll information and adhere to data security policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • Previous experience in payroll processing required.
  • Proficiency in payroll software and Microsoft Excel.
  • Understanding of Federal, State and all employment taxes.
  • Strong understanding of payroll regulations and compliance requirements.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.
  • High level of integrity and commitment to maintaining confidentiality.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field preferred.
  • Experience of internal controls preferred.
