About the position

The Human Resources Representative for the City of Milwaukee plays a crucial role in the recruitment and selection of police and fire personnel. This position involves conducting job analyses, developing selection processes, and ensuring effective communication with candidates throughout the hiring process. The HR Representative will also be responsible for maintaining confidentiality and improving HR products and processes based on research and feedback.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct job analyses to determine critical tasks and necessary characteristics for successful job performance.
  • Draft job announcement bulletins based on job analysis findings.
  • Determine applicant eligibility based on minimum job requirements.
  • Plan and develop valid selection components in accordance with professional standards and legal guidelines.
  • Administer performance examinations and other assessment exercises.
  • Maintain effective communication with candidates and hiring authorities throughout the selection process.
  • Investigate and respond to discrimination complaints related to the selection process.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in human resources management, industrial relations, education, psychology, business administration, public administration or a related field.
  • Three years of professional-level experience in developing and executing selection processes in a large organization.
  • Valid Driver's License at the time of appointment and throughout employment.

Nice-to-haves
