About the position

The Human Resources - Safety Specialist is responsible for ensuring workplace safety by inspecting and auditing worksites, providing safety training, and managing workers' compensation claims in compliance with regulations. This role involves evaluating hazards, maintaining safety metrics, and supporting case management to minimize work-related injuries and losses.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluates the workplace for hazards and generates job hazard assessments for job positions.
  • Inspects and audits worksites and work practices to ensure compliance with regulatory agencies.
  • Coordinates and provides initial and ongoing safety training to company employees, including those in remote locations.
  • Investigates near misses and accidents to identify root causes and recommends countermeasures.
  • Maintains up-to-date incident database, safety report metrics, and OSHA 300 Logs.
  • Supports workers' compensation case management with employees, managers, and carriers to ensure optimal outcomes.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent years of experience.
  • Current driver's license with a good record over the past 3 years.
  • At least two years' professional workers' compensation and/or safety experience.
  • Excellent oral, written communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong knowledge of management principles and practices.
  • Good organizational and analytical skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and coordinate a high level of activity under various conditions.
  • Proficiency in MS Excel and Word.

Nice-to-haves

  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP) status preferred.
