About the position

The Safety Specialist is responsible for ensuring workplace safety by inspecting and auditing worksites, providing safety training, and managing workers' compensation claims. This role involves evaluating hazards, maintaining safety metrics, and supporting case management to minimize work-related injuries and losses.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluates the workplace for hazards and generates job hazard assessments for job positions.
  • Inspects and audits worksites and work practices to ensure compliance with regulatory agencies.
  • Coordinates and provides initial and ongoing safety training to company employees, including those in remote locations.
  • Investigates near misses and accidents to identify root causes and recommends countermeasures.
  • Maintains an up-to-date incident database, safety report metrics, and OSHA 300 Logs.
  • Supports workers' compensation case management with employees, managers, and carriers to ensure optimal outcomes.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent years of experience.
  • Current driver's license with a good record over the past 3 years.
  • At least two years of professional workers' compensation and/or safety experience.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and persuasive skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP) status preferred.
  • Experience in Workers' compensation law.
