About the position

The Human Resources - Safety Specialist position is responsible for ensuring workplace safety and compliance with regulations. This role involves inspecting and auditing worksites, providing safety training, managing workers' compensation claims, and maintaining safety metrics. The position is crucial for promoting a safe work environment and minimizing workplace incidents.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate the workplace for hazards and generate job hazard assessments for job positions.
• Inspect and audit worksites and work practices to ensure compliance with regulatory agencies.
• Coordinate and provide initial and ongoing safety training to company employees, including those in remote locations.
• Investigate near misses and accidents to identify root causes and recommend countermeasures.
• Maintain an up-to-date incident database, safety report metrics, and OSHA 300 Logs.
• Support workers' compensation case management with employees, managers, and carriers to ensure optimal outcomes.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree or equivalent years of experience.
• Current driver's license with a good record over the past 3 years.
• At least two years of professional workers' compensation and/or safety experience.
• Strong knowledge of management principles and practices.
• Good organizational and analytical skills.
• Ability to prioritize and coordinate a high level of activity under various conditions and constraints.
• Proficiency in MS Excel and Word.

Nice-to-haves

• Certified Safety Professional (CSP) status preferred.
