The Human Resources Specialist 2 position at the Georgia Department of Human Services (DHS) involves providing analysis, research, and technical expertise in various human resources disciplines. Responsibilities

  • Analyzes organizational, occupational, and industrial data to facilitate organizational functions.
  • Applies analytical and professional expertise to one or more human resources disciplines.
  • Maintains a thorough knowledge of current human resources policies and procedures.
  • Provides technical assistance in area(s) of expertise to team members and other departmental staff.
  • Consults with or serves as technical liaison between business, industry, and government officials.
  • Ensures organizational compliance with federal and state laws, including reporting requirements.
  • Conducts interviews and surveys to collect position, organizational, and occupational information.
  • Participates in meetings or presentations and assists with communication materials preparation.
  • Researches and prepares data for occupational classifications, position descriptions, and salary scales.
  • Effectively communicates recommendations based on research findings.
  • Prepares regularly scheduled and ad hoc reports for organizational management.
  • Monitors practices to ensure compliance with legal requirements and best practices.
  • Analyzes data and trends to enhance operational processes.
  • Provides weekly updates to supervisor regarding assignments.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Two years of related experience in human resources, or one year at the lower level HR Spec 1 or equivalent.

Nice-to-haves

  • Compensation and classification work experience in a corporate or governmental environment.
  • Experience implementing data management using PeopleSoft.
  • Knowledge of social service careers.
  • Experience interpreting Fair Labor Standards Act regulations.
  • Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) or Professional in Human Resources (PHR) certification.
  • Exceptional written and analytical skills.
