About the position

The HR Specialist at Poway Unified School District plays a crucial role in supporting the district's mission by managing recruitment, selection, and retention processes. Responsibilities

  • Plan and schedule recruitments and examinations, construct tests, and assemble test materials.
  • Review employment lists and certify candidates for vacant positions.
  • Develop supplemental application forms, tests, scoring standards, and rating forms.
  • Screen applications for entrance qualifications.
  • Contact district personnel and potential candidates to obtain or impart information.
  • Supervise examinations to ensure compliance with procedures.
  • Brief and debrief examination raters and evaluate candidates.
  • Score examinations and calculate cut-off scores and standard scores.
  • Conduct test reviews with applicants and employees.
  • Arrange for facilities and details related to recruitment and selection.
  • Compose correspondence and prepare responses to inquiries.
  • Review personnel transactions for compliance with regulations and policies.
  • Conduct research related to active recruitments.
  • Attend meetings, conferences, and trainings as assigned.

Requirements

  • Graduation from high school or equivalent, supplemented by college-level coursework in human resources or related fields.
  • Three years of increasingly responsible clerical experience, including one year supporting human resources functions.
  • Knowledge of collective bargaining agreements and personnel administration practices.
  • Ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in public civil service or merit system recruitment is desirable.
