About the position

The Human Resources Specialist - Benefits at El Rio Community Health Center is responsible for managing HR functions related to employee benefits. This role involves collaborating with employees and management to provide exceptional customer service while ensuring compliance with relevant laws and organizational policies. The specialist will support the mission of delivering quality healthcare by effectively administering various employee benefit programs.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with coordination for annual open enrollment of company-sponsored benefits programs.
  • Act as the first point of contact for enrollment and benefit changes related to qualifying events and Open Enrollment.
  • Provide support and assistance to staff with various employee benefit plans including medical, dental, vision, disability, life, retirement, and flexible spending accounts.
  • Resolve and provide support for inquiries in a timely, courteous, and professional manner.
  • Ensure adherence to organizational regulations, including Labor Management Agreement and HR Policies and Procedures.
  • Plan, organize, and facilitate assigned events and projects that support HR operations.
  • Communicate effectively with employees and clients, conveying information positively.
  • Complete all assigned duties and tasks within established time frames, demonstrating high levels of expertise and accuracy.
  • Maintain confidentiality of employee and patient information in compliance with HIPAA and corporate standards.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert for HR operating systems and business software, resolving issues effectively.
  • Research and generate reports for HR staff or clients, maintaining departmental spreadsheets for operational use.
  • Maintain a clean and hygienic work environment in compliance with policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrate understanding of Joint Commission Certification compliance standards.

Requirements

  • Associate's Degree in Business Administration or related field from an accredited college or university.
  • Three years of experience in Human Resources, including benefits processing/administration.
  • Three years of experience working with Benefits systems/HRIS systems.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration or related field from an accredited university.
  • Five years of experience in benefits processing within a human resources department.
  • Proficient organizational skills and exceptional attention to detail.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Ability to interpret and adhere to state and federal laws and regulations relating to employee benefits.
  • Certified Benefits Professional (CBP) Certification.
  • Professional Human Resources Certification (PHR) or Certified Health Care Recruiter (CHCR).
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) with the ability to speak, read, and write in both languages.
