The Human Resources Specialist - Benefits position at the City of Springfield involves coordinating and administering city-wide employee benefit plans and programs. This role serves as the primary contact for employees regarding benefits inquiries and education, ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations, and collaborating with external vendors to manage service delivery and resolve issues.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and administer City-wide benefit plans and programs, including health insurance, retirement plans, and voluntary benefits.
• Serve as the point of contact for employees regarding benefits inquiries and employee benefits education.
• Ensure benefits programs comply with applicable laws and regulations.
• Collaborate with external benefits vendors, manage service delivery, and resolve issues.

Requirements

• Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, Public or Business Administration, or a related field.
• One year of professional experience in centralized human resources in a benefits assignment.
• A Master's Degree in Human Resources or a related area may be substituted for the experience requirement.
• Active PHR or SHRM-CP certification may substitute applicable experience on a year-for-year basis, not exceeding two years.
