About the position

The Human Resources Specialist - Bilingual position at Willamette Education Service District (ESD) is a full-time role that requires proficiency in both English and Spanish. The successful candidate will be an integral part of the Human Resources Department, contributing to various HR functions while ensuring effective communication with Spanish-speaking employees and stakeholders. This position is based at the Marion Center in Salem, Oregon, and follows a 250-day work calendar. The role is designed for individuals who are passionate about supporting educational services and enhancing the HR functions within the district. The selected candidate will be expected to start as soon as possible after the selection process is completed. As a Human Resources Specialist, the individual will engage in a variety of tasks that include recruitment, employee relations, benefits administration, and compliance with employment laws. The bilingual requirement emphasizes the importance of clear communication in both languages, ensuring that all employees receive the necessary support and information in a language they understand. The position also involves collaborating with other HR team members to develop and implement policies and programs that promote a positive work environment and support the district's mission of providing quality education services. The role offers a competitive salary range of $22.88 to $29.26 per hour, depending on the candidate's qualifications and experience. Responsibilities

  • Assist in the recruitment process by posting job openings, screening applications, and conducting interviews.
  • Provide support in employee onboarding and orientation processes.
  • Administer employee benefits programs and assist employees with inquiries regarding their benefits.
  • Ensure compliance with federal and state employment laws and regulations.
  • Maintain accurate employee records and HR databases.
  • Facilitate communication between English and Spanish-speaking employees to ensure understanding of HR policies and procedures.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of HR policies and programs.
  • Support employee relations initiatives and address employee concerns.

Requirements

  • Bilingual in Spanish and English is required.
  • Experience in human resources or a related field is preferred.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of employment laws and regulations.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and HR software.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience working in an educational environment.
